How wide and tall is the engine bay of the Pinz 710/712? Or I suppose the question could also be: how wide and tall is the Pinz air cooled four cylinder?
Here's an interesting (wacky) idea for an engine swap: the air cooled 2.5 liter V8 from a Tatra 603. Its total outside width is 27.5 inches, total height from the base of the sump to top of the intake (without carb) is 22 inches.
Would this little beast fit into a the engine bay of a Pinz 710/12?

Re: Air Cooled V8 Pinzgauer
That little Tatra beauty actually produces LOWER Torque than a stock Pinz motor.

The mighty Steyr-Puch 2.4L is actually one beast all on it's own Peak ft-lb's at 2,000 rpm
is pretty darn good and not easy to beat other than Diesel or an Electric motor -- based on
all the swap-out "attempts" on this forum, none have proved easy and several have failed.
The best and most straight forward improvement one can make for the Pinz motor is the
2.7L conversion with EFI. The easiest being PinzSSI as a first step for a significant improvement in
Ignition.
