This is an early announcement but wanted to share what I've been up to in the 4x4 world. I've been planning a special build for some years now and was recently, finally, able to start it, though it will go slow due to budget issues (like always!).

I'll explain more in the near future but for now, I'll post updates here and on facebook. (You do not need to join facebook to see the pics/updates)

Random yet related pics below. :)

Thanks! Vince

Vince, as with all your projects, I'm betting this mog-wrecker is gonna set a new standard -- Matt watch out buddy :DD

Wish I was closer to ya, I'd love to help out.

Thanks Ron. This won't be a wrecker exactly, but more of a Swiss-Army knife off-road recovery/logistics truck. The mini crane will allow for some unique abilities for cargo transport and other lifting duties (could pick up a UTV and place it where ever!), while keeping a lot of cargo room in the stock bed, which a tow boom would not allow. It'll also be set up to optionally carry a water or fuel tank, or a 12kw generator for remote EV charging, etc.

It's going to get three Warn winches (by yours truly!) which will help deal with most recovery situations out there. Two 18K industrials and one custom built 8274 rated at about 10K but is high speed with a very long rope, plus it can be directed 90 degrees off the bed, in either direction.

Design work on the front winch mount.

The holes on each lower side are threaded bolt holes for the swivel shackle recovery points, allowing any-angle anchor points that typical bow shackles don't allow for. They are actually rated at full working load even at 90 degrees!

The white chalk lines are where I'm plasma cutting the rest of the plate out for the larger industrial sized fairlead.

The awful, useless original headlights are going away. I'm custom building the new headlight/lights into new Unimog bumperettes.

Lots of fab work involved. All I got was the outer pieces which were taken off a 2022 model, no brackets or light mounts.
