Pinzgauer replica ?
Hi everybody.I joined this forum to be able to find out from you guys, Pinzgauer owners, if there is such thing as Pinzgauer replica? You know what I mean, replica as Lamborgini replica built on various donor vehicle such is Pontiac Fiero, or replica as Hummer replica built on various donors usually on Suburban trucks (currently I am building one) .I am fan of Pinzgauer now.
I come on idea to build body of Pinzgauer on Jeep or 4runner drivetrain. This shouldn't be very complicated since Pinzgauer is pretty much square.
I want to save time and effort and find out if there is somebody who is already done this and is wiling to share knowhow. That is why I am asking you guys about it.

I dont get it
A Pinzgauer can be bought for $10,000 usd. Why wouldn't you just get a real one? Also, besides the unique body, a big attribute of the Pinz is it's portal axles, bulletproof underside and true 4x4 system. You won't get that with some Jeep underneath and converting a common frame to a forward cab could not possibly be worth the time.
I remember when a dealer near me was trying to sell one of those fake Hummers built on a Jeep. The Hummer isn't much to start with and to make something that looked like it but wasn't always seemed really ridiculous to me. It also took him over a year to sell it. I think it was something like $28k.
Maybe I'm not a good person to comment as I have never understood the fake car thing anyway. Either do it for real or sit on the sidelines.

The Pinz is pure engineering, to make a replica you'd have to make it like real which would cost 10 times the price of a used one!! I know some people who have put a TD nose cone on a 710 if that's the sort of thing that counts!
If you want to make something eye catching then mock up a tank or something!?

I don't understand why you'd want to build a replica. Replica cars are usually made to look like more expensive cars and real Pinz's aren't that expensive. Or they're made to look like more attractive cars and real Pinz's aren't that attractive (present company excluded). Get a real one and spend your time working on that
replica?
The Ebay site has models you can get for $10 plus shipping. If you are going to 'fake' a pinz just get one of those and save lots of money.
I had a conversation with a guy yesterday that asked if another engine could be put in a pinz...'sure, but why?' ...then it wouldn't be a pinz.
You could put a Timex movement into a Wittnauer case, it would look Swiss.

I hear what you are saying guys.Three will allways be good reasons to do something and not to do. But we do things not because they are easy but to prove ourselfs to us.You guys with your Pinzgauers are not takeing easy road when offroading but imposible road, and then prove to everybody it is posible. Why are you going in to mud when just beside is perfectly maintained road...everybody have own reasons.
Today I went to the Pinzgauerland. Here in Montreal we have dealer who import and service Pinzgauers ,Unimogs and G-vagons. There were plenty of perfectly good Pinzgauers.I took some pictures. I hope you will enjoy it.
For those of you interested about here are the prices.
G-vagons, automatic or manual-18.500$
Unimogs-11.000$
Pinzgauers 4x4-15.500$
Pinzgauers6x6-18.000$
Then I saw few Pinzgauers that dealer use for parts. That is what I am looking for.I am still negotiating the price. But I am really interested. If it is going to be too expensive I will build it from the scratch.
Not to make this post too big , I will post just links to pictures instead off picks.

Every serious dealer have these parts donor trucks. Thing is nobody is looking for these. Some Pinzgauers have to die so other can live longer.
Back in Europe when I was in army, no Pinzgauer was left behind.Every one was always fixed and on the road.If they couldn't get parts they would fabricate them.
