Bad news for you Texans in the group. Another damn Yankee heading south!

I was offered a position at Texas A&M Central Texas (formerly Tarleton State Central Texas) in Killeen, TX. I am very excited as this a great position and a great match for my interests and skills.

I'll be moving this summer. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you all in person someday.

Welcome to Texas, I am sure it will take some getting used to coming from NY.

Hope all goes well for you on the move, it will be very hot this summer.

Willie

ka, it will travel the same way it always does when it goes more than 20 miles from home.... on the trailer.

I love the Pinz, but she doesn't do hi-ways very well.

Willie, Thanks. I'm looking forward to being warm. The adjustment may be challenging but somebody has to do it.....

+1

I drive about 200-300 miles a week in mine, and more than half of it is highway. Is there something wrong with your truck, or are you just not comfortable chilling in the slow lane?

I have to imagine it is difficult to drive the BA Ford and the pinz at the same time, trailer makes sense.
I have driven my 710 from to Seattle to San Diego three times and Seattle to Denver four times. Great adventure, not fast but really interesting. Good luck on your move.

Poinz on the Hi-way

Well it's not that I can't drive on the Hi-Way...

It's just that with the new tires at flat out I only get up to about 50 mph (measured with the GPS) and I feel I have my life in my hands. It's just not worth being scared by semi's. If I run to Alfred, I take the back roads and take my time and have fun. So, twenty miles was, perhaps, a slight stretch... Anyway, I have the big Ford truck and the trailer, so trailering it for a 3 hour drive makes sense to me.

One of the reasons I don't like driving it far from home is that I have had some mysterious break-downs. It acts like it is starved for fuel and just dies. If I pull over and blow out the fuel filter, it USUALLY restarts and runs for a while. This comes and goes.

Anyway, driving to Texas from NY? I think I'll take her on the trailer. It's a long run.

Hmm, my 712 has a sweet spot at around 56-57MPH (GPS and Radar checked). I wonder if maybe you need to get an alignment done if it feels scary? I had mine done by Jim L. a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in the way the truck handles/feels.

Welcome to Texas... There are tons of "imported" living here. NY, NJ, California, are among the many adopted Texans...

Hope to see you soon at a trail nearby.

Let us know when ya get here. You'll be more or less in the "yankee/liberal" part of the state being that close to Austin, but we'll try not to hold that against ya.

Just make sure you dirve safely and get here.

I was hoping Carlos would chime in as he's in that end of the state!

Welcome to Texas. You're going to struggle with the summers for a while but when Dec through Mar rolls arond and you're wearing shorts, you'll begin to adapt.

If you get near the Houston area, drop me a line.
