A movie you should see: The Tree of Life

Post by VinceAtReal4x4s »

I feel like I need to recommend a film to everyone. The Tree of Life is truly something different. I was following its production for three years and it's finally coming out after enormous efforts from some of the top artists in the industry, many of them being idols of mine.

For anyone who likes Kubrick's 2001, this should appeal to you. If you are an action-only kind of fan, it likely won't.

Here is a trailer. It starts playing wider in early July.

Synopsis:
The impressionistic story of a Texas family in the 1950s. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by 'Sean Penn' ) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith.

It's on our list to see Vince. Thanks for the suggestion/recommendation.

It sounds like the opposite of "Thor"!

Vince,

My wife and I saw it the other evening and we both found it very interesting and well made. Interesting story about a time in America where parenthood was quite a bit different than it is today. The camera work and visual images were impressive.

I liked that there was quite a bit of it filmed in Houston and Smithville (about halfway to Austin) too. For those who have not seen it, you won't be confusing it with "Clear and Present Danger" or "Twins"!
