Gear Attachments

I came across these couple of items recently that have both turned out to be very useful:

The attachment IMG_0183.jpg is no longer available

The Tac Link is made by ITW Military Products http://www.itwmilitaryproducts.com/content/tac-link and available from Cheaper Than Dirt http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/TAC061-1.html as well as others for about $4 each. Since they're made of plastic they don't rust and don't rattle. Also can be used while wearing gloves. The photo is of the Foliage Green color and seems to match better than the Olive Drab imo.

The loop is available from Expedition Exchange http://www.expeditionexchange.com/transportloop/ for about $9 each.

The carabiner fits thru the large loop in the transport loop. I mounted a few of these in key spots using rivet nuts. The holes already in the tops of the 2 rear panels are the perfect size for 6mm or 1/4" rivet nuts. Loops mounted here provide a great spot for lashing gear.

The Tac Links are also available individually from Simmons Law Enforcement http://simmonsle.com/itw.php. I ordered from them and their shipping cost was reasonable and they shipped same day.

The shipping charge on the Transport Loops seemed very high ($16+ ???) but I found something else to order so it worked out.

Had to do some cutting and sewing but one net did both sides and the back on a 710.

Paul, please post more pictures of your 710 containment system. More of the side view with details and rear view with details. Your system is awesome, I would like to copy your idea to contain my kids and friends too.

I'll try to get some more shots later today and post them along with descriptions.

It's worked out really well and even the dog likes it. I tried the elastic netting and it just wasn't strong enough for my needs.

After cutting the net, use a lighter to melt/fuse the cut end so it doesn't unravel. I used a pliers type leather punch to make holes in the nylon webbing and then used a soldering iron to seal the edges of the hole. If you use the soldering iron to make the hole it builds up a ridge of hardened plastic around the hole which makes it hard to bolt or rivet together. On the side panels I used bolts and nuts but then switched to 3/16" rivets with a washer on the rear. I can't really say one is better over the other - personal choice.

The cargo net comes with ~ 3' nylon tie-downs on each corner which I cut up to make the loops for the rubber cord.

Thanks for the great idea. My dogs love the Pinz, but I've been looking for a better system than the elastic nets.
