Several months ago, I bought a Pinzgauer 712M (fitted in camping car).

Previous owners weren't good with engine maintenance. I had to fully service it.

I do it on my spare time, and it's fun

One of my jobs is fireworks, and one of my dream is to use my Pinz to help us when we are stuck in the mud while preparing firework installation.
Would be fun to use a Pinz in heritage garden (Versailles, Champs de Mars...)

Really neat photos of the abandoned chateau. Is your truck actually an M? It appears to have a hardtop, or is that some sort of camper add-on?

This is a 712M, with a fiberglass hardtop on it. I think a previous owner scout for a hard top and put it.

Then, he added a hard expandable tent on the top.

Side door is also a bit strange. It's a shorten version of regular one.

By now, this 712M look like more a 712K

That's a CRAZY amount of fuel to be carrying around... unless you're headed where there is none! Also nice seats. Who makes them?

Sure, this is a big quantity. Unfortunately, Pinzgauer are hungry vehicles, and with an average 18L/Km (13 MPG), you have 1100 Km (685 M), this is sometimes really tricky to drive until next gaz station. In Egyptia or in southern Morroco, you can run for a very long time on your own tank.

For seat, they were in the Pinz when I bought them. I looked at them, but there is no brand. With some research on Internet, I foud them:

Andre made me a 43 gallon tank and still has a spot for the jerrycan, for a total of 48 gallons (182 liters). I completed a 3500 mile (5600 km) trip along the US west coast in August and it was much more pleasant to not have to gas up every few hours! Basically filled up roughly once a day. Those of you who have made long road trips would appreciate not "having" to make a fuel stop as often; plus you have more flexibility to find a lower cost station.

I resemble that remark! I didn't say I didn't stop, just didn't stop for gas.

Was thinking the same thing. It's a relief to pull over and fuel up... maybe get some hearing back

When I used to take long trips (1500 miles or so) I would try to stop at least every two to three hours. Sometimes it coincided with a gas stop, and in WA there were roadside rest places with coffee and cookies. Great place to not only get hearing back but also to just get out and walk around for a bit. When I had the stock seats it was a must. For the long trips I carried extra fuel cans (mostly on a trailer) beside the one on the pinz for a bit of extra insurance.
Looks like you got a great deal on that 712.

well, some engine work, but that worth it!
