Bahamas noob wants a Pinzgauer.

Hello all.
I am in Nassau Bahamas and am wanting a Pinzgauer.
I have been looking and researching them for a long time and have decided to go one more step.
I want one.
My background. I have always owned a 4x4 of some sort. AMC Jeep. Wrangler, Suzuki, the usual stuff.
I now own a Wrangler and a Land rover Defender 90. The Defender really woke me up as to what a 4x4 can be, the Wrangler is a joke compared.
Then I stumble across the Pinzgauer and from what all I have read and seen it will make my Defender look like a Wrangler.
I am already used to ordering parts out of the UK and US as there are no parts in The Bahamas, especially for the Defender.
So Anyway. I am looking for tips and hints on what I should and should not be looking for.
I use my Defender for vacation. I load it up with my wife and dogs and put it on a ferry and go and explore the islands, so I would be doing the same with the Pinzgauer.
I think I would rather a soft top as that is what I am used to but the Radio truck version looks very practical.
I would rather diesel but from what I have seen the only diesels are the newer ones and I don't think I can afford one. Keep in mind that I have to import into The Bahamas and its 47% duty rate plus the freight.
Well that's kinda it.
I have come across a few here and there in the US, it would be best to get from the US as it would be cheaper but the UK or EU are not out of the question.
One main concern is how reliable these vehicles are?
My Defender is nice but it is constant maintenance, is the Pinzgauer the same?
What do I need to know before I take the plunge?
Thanks.
