Nice setup. If you are going to have one mounted, at least that one is out of the way. The front corner of the pinz just seems to be a rock magnet .

I just watched the u-tube video and I think it is an interesting concept however, getting out of the vehicle seems like it might be a little "awkward" for me. I'm an old man now (mid 60's) and I'm a life-long advocate of the K.I.S.S.
principle. I just ordered a set of Mike's fold-up steps; they're real simple, just hang 'em and use 'em...no special mounting needed. I've had both of my knees replaced and Mike's fold-up steps in combination with my front hub steps are just what I needed. Works for me.

Nice! I didn't really make it to get off (i was pretty amazed that my broter inlaw was even able to get out the way he did) as I never really use to get off usually it's just hard getting in, I don't see how any step would help you get out( maybe the wheel hub one best for getting out) because it's directly under door anything else is pushed too toward. I also like the ones 4x4pinz made he is the one thy inspired me to try something different, but I wanted something u don't have to mess with ones It's installed 5 bolt installation.

I'm insterested in what other people can come up with

Did anything further become of these step up designs? I would be interested in buying one or two. My missus really struggles getting in and she is not all that tall to begin with. Also can anyone point me in the direction of a wheel hub step please?

I'm not sure if anyone is still making hub steps. Thilo Kass (mogsrus.com) used to make a very nice set and Cold War Remarketing also used to sell a set.

Scott at Expedition Imports sells these (http://www.expedition-imports.com/PFMSTEP) which I have had and are very nicely made.

Seems to me that Morris posted directions for similar steps made up of common plumbing parts.
I'm too tired to search.
I've always thought to make up steps like you show, but make them with cable for the vertical parts, as I've seen on earthmoving equipment. No need to remove or fold them up when driving.

The step is made from one 12 inch long 1 1/2 inch round pipe nipple cut into two equal pieces and two 1 1/2 inch common floor flanges. I drilled the non threads end to allow for on/off with a phillips screwdriver. This makes it easily removable in the event of possible major rock damage. I never took mine off. It fits easily between the hub and the wheel in the space that is available.
Cost was about $20.

As a further increase for non slip I welded a bit of open weave metal mesh to the stets.

Painting red was my final step (pun not intended) for visibility.
