water fording and snorkel
can you guys with snorkels do an update if you have any new info and pictures ? much appreciated i want to consider this on my 710m thanks guys.

Here are a few picture of what I did. Ill try to take some shots on how I ran the hose from the engine bay up and out. I used 2 ¾ id high temp hose from mcmaster part # 5499K245. I had to make a reducer sleeve at the junction where it meets the 62mm air filter inlet at the filter housing. The hose ended up exactly 5 feet long.

Here are a few more pics. I don’t have any of what it looks like inside the dog house but the filter housing is in the exact same location. The hose connects directly to the intake with the hot air mixer removed.

I made that part. Unfortunately they are cost prohibitive to produce so I only made 2 sets. At one point in time the factory TD inlet was available for sale but have had no luck tracking it down.

I had found the Steyr part numbers in another post, and wondered whether yours were factory and maybe available. Nicely done.

I have the factory TD snorkel and Bernhard's looks like the better solution. They were available through Gut automobile for about $200 a few years ago, but with the swiss franc going up its probably about $300 if you can find an original one. The factory snorkel runs toward the rear, down the side, and then turns and goes through the firewall. The stock airfilter is turned 180 degrees and the thermostat removed. I haven't figured out how (or if) to reinstall the cargo grill behind the passenger with it. You can see it the thread about "show me your box"

I did it the same way you did. The problem is that you will not find out it failed till you are in deep water.
Now don't ask me how I found out.

the Snorkel. At least I didn't have to cut new holes into the roll bar.

First thing i notice are the door handles. Have difficulties closing the door without them?

The bend is part of the structural rigidity of the door upper. Notching it makes the upper weaker than they already were. SDP revamped the uppers entirely on the TDs, using extruded aluminum for the frame and heavy steel angles for the corners and attachment to the door lowers
I used t nuts on my old 710 and 712 to attach the handles to the uppers ( and they came off with the windows)...the whole top edge of the door can serve as a handle.... unless you're afraid of putting fingerprints on your pristine paint

David, I never said anything about cutting into the radius. Honestly don’t believe cleanly notching for the door handles has any detrimental effect on the structural integrity of the upper door halves. Mind you I only have ~20 years in aerospace structural manufacturing, refit and repair. I will agree that if the notches not done properly you would be creating potential problems, remove a minimum of metal and radius corners of notches.
