Anyone running an intercom system. I've bought bose headsets and am looking for an affordable system to run them through. I found VIC-1 and 2 but it gets expensive fast. Any help?

Check out Riders Warehouse. They sell a lot of very cool motorcycle touring items and several intercom systems. Should be affordable?

I ran/run and Avcomm 6 station system in my 712. Worked well when it was set up for passengers. I also have an Avcomm portable two station system I take when riding in others trucks. Great systems and not all that expensive. Best thing is they are new and have a warranty unlike the Vic systems.

I don't believe you can use Bose headsets with a vic1 since I'm assuming Bose has aviation plugs and the vic1 a unique multi contact, large plug. When I was considering an intercom I was thinking about this one, http://www.sportys.com/PilotShop/product/9030

It's a Bose Triport Tactial and uses the same plug as CVC helmets (so it is solely designed for a VIC system and not aero).

Hey there! I have some info on being able to convert the bose headsets to 3.5mm to be used with iphones or radios. I did this to mine and activated the ANR (active noise reduction) and it is AWESOME. Totally worth the work and time.

has anyone thought of using FMRS 2way radios with varied ptt headsets? usually they have a high and low power setting to xmit. you could set it to low and shouldn't get feedback even sitting that close together. let me know what ya'll think!

I have taken a slightly different approach, mainly because I am cheap. Who knows how well this will work or not? The delivery just showed up today.

I bought a pair of motorcycle com units for less than 100 bucks. They connect up to 3-4 riders, and connect to a phone via blue tooth. They are made to Velcro into a helmet, so a little extra Velcro and a pair of shooting ear muff's, and I have a pair of ear protectors with communication\music ability.

Nice thing is, I can easily swap them out into my motorcycle helmet when I go riding. We'll see how long it holds up, but that's my solution for now.

I'm also doing reasearch on what would be a good intercom / hearing protection for driving in a TGB 1111.

I think from reading the description you'd need a scanner for each person that wanted to talk on the intercom with this system.

I've got a number of Dave Clark headsets and an older Bose Aviation from training and work, they are awesome headsets but to use them I'd have to invest in a system similar to what was posted earlier.

The bluetooth intercom with some simple shooting hearing protection may end up being the best bet, [s] but I'd hate to have to make sure my phone was working to act as a relay station, do they work unit to unit or do they have to go through a phone? [/s]

Answered my own question with simple reading. These work unit to unit and while they may not be the right units to get at least I know there is something out there that isn't very expensive and would work.
