Not to mention some folks break down the cairns, and others magically appear.
In that area, if you're a solo traveler and break through the crust, it can be a helluva recovery problem.
With any winch method, in Soda Lake stuff...get that winch down to the first layer so you have a properly rated pull. That much is incredibly sticky. As mentioned, if you have a pullpal, give that a try after digging ramps as much as possible and clearing the undercarriage. Of course, air down to your emergency levels - on my truck that means about 17psi, but I'm running around 13k pounds. The filled and buried grain bag, pillow, sleeping bag, etc sometimes works also. You can also rig an array of hammered in pilings and connect to that, make a folding steel rig you can pin in, or do some walking to Baker or the Zzyzx research station and see if you can get some help there. Gonna cost though.
Thats a fun area, I used to work right next to it.

Well SB, as it nearly played out, you almost joined me on this Mojave trek.
If you had you probably wouldn't have gotten stuck with your 712, and it
would have been the "Strap of shame" for me instead of reporting on how
great these Waffle boards are
Bogans never learn - rated recovery points are a must, stay clear of the action, damper on the rope - dont try and snatch with a normal tow rope - there is no stretch.
People die here doing that sort of irresponsible recovery.
