Good idea! I ran a quote request with the following information and got the lowest price from UPS Freight at just under $500. This assumes that I crate it into a pallet type package (which I can do but would add about $100 for the materials and time required).

I will also Post it on uShip to get competing bids from other service providers for this shipment.

I figured it would be pretty expensive. I'm trying to purchase a 710m now and I know the top is shot. I'd love to try something like this over purchasing another soft top. Wish it was more feasible!

UPS Freight at $500 seems pretty reasonable to me!
New TuffRiver top $$$$
New OEM top $$$
New custom built hardtop $$ - $$$$ depending on options

I'm hoping to pick up my Pinz this week. I am still very interested in this, but am working on getting the money together. I know my Pinzgauer needs a top. If you get a chance, could you email me some pics of the inside and what exactly comes with it (I'm confused about the rear window) and how it mounts. Mark

Sure - I can get more photos tomorrow. I am traveling today.

The aluminum top itself just fits on top of the front and real roll bars and then there are clamps locking it onto them to prevent it from coming off. Very secure but easy to remove also. The front edge fits under the fabric roof of the front roll bar like the soft top does to make it water proof.

The rear glass hatch is attached to the rear roll bar with only two bolts. The two aluminum side panels are also attached with a couple of bolts as well. I put some rivnuts into my rear roll bar but rivets or thru bolts could be used also. with the rivnuts it results in very minimal modifications to the roll bar - easily removeable.

The rear glass hatch has a piece of aluminum angle on the bottom which only allows it to be opened only after the rear door is opened first. It can be left open resting on the spare tire when driving if desired for ventilation. There is a gas strut on the hinge side which will keep it up out of the way when stopped and the rear door is open. It is made of laminated double layered windshield glass glued to a welded aluminum frame - very solid.

The back could be used with a regular fabric rear cover - I don't think i have that piece still (I can look for it).

Here are a couple of additional pictures which were requested - let me know if there are any questions or more photos needed...

Here is a view of the hatch from the inside. The glass part is removable by pulling a small pin on the latch and then opening it all the way. Its is about 14 x 14 and I can just squeeze through it (... or I did in the past...) Its a marine hatch with aluminum frame and it glued in with PU type glue and there is a trim ring for it included.

The hatch is just behind the front roll bar and is easy to reach from the driver's seat if the dividing "fence" is removed.

The inside of the roof has a soft rubber foam covering I got from McMaster's - it has one spot where it was slightly damaged by something. Not that noticeable. This headliner does a good job keeping condensation from dripping if you sleep in the back.

I can deliver it to the NW MogFest in Sheridan OR in August.

Here is a close up of the inside with the hatch - you can also see the "clamp" plates which keep the top attached to the roll bars. The plate is rotated on the single 6mm bolt which is then tightened down. There are four total - two on the front roll bat and two on the rear. This photo is without the trim ring installed - it is included.

Here is a view from the back end of the roof with it upside down.

You can see the one spot which has slight damage to the foam rubber headliner.

The aluminum frame work was pre-bent on a roller machine to match the arc of the Pinz roll bars and then welded to the aluminum plate. It is extremely strong.

This rear hard top is still available AND there may be the option for low cost transport to the southwest USA this month.

$1000 for the hardtop with the side curtains - and I will now include the rear hinged glass hatch with gas strut and the two side aluminum plates.

I also have several more pieces of the same 5 bar aluminum - enough to build a matching front hard top cover - they will be offered to the purchaser of the hardtop first, and if they don't want them, then I will consider offers on it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes - Andre has the top now and the separate matching 5x6 foot sheet of 5 bar aluminum for making the front cab cover.

Andre can also make a nice set of hinged or sliding removable sides to have a completely secure but open-able 710m Pinzgauer - better than a K version when hot weather hits!
