What about any of the other experimental offerings from the second article towards the bottom...anyone ever spotted any of these? How is that a twin locked Chrysler family wagon never made it into production...sounds practical :wink:

If you skim over the patent it appears the inventor had plans to futher the design to include applications that can individually control/vary the amount of drive/torque coming through to the "V output drive shafts" and to the front wheels....I wonder what he was thinking :idea:

Yep - I saw one of these in Colorado once - very interesting idea but they are subject to "wind-up" when driven on hard surfaces due to the lack of differentials between the front and rear wheel on each side.

The spare tire working as an assistive device for getting over obstacles is a interesting solution. It was previously done on some WWII Steyr staff cars:
