VW Doka STI

Post by oilcan »

saw this on BAT... interesting idea on the engine swap. i know ive read thoughts on here from people who know much more about that sorta thing than me, but kind made me wonder, if the pinz motor ever went out, maybe a subaru 4 banger... small, indestructable, cheap??? dont need 350bhp, but maybe 150? :)

also, if you read the above and are shaking your head in disgust, at least look at the add, the guy (girl?) has Mog in the background. maybe it has a Subaru motor in it too...

Thats Eric Diedea and his NW famous TriStar. Porche trans, brakes, WRX STI tricked out turbo suby engine and routinely beats up on 911s BMWs and other imports at Portland International Raceway open track and club days. VERY IMPRESSIVE build and performance.

I have a 2.5 suby conversion in a vanagon camper. Too wide for the Pinz tunnel.

Subaru motor is too wide for the engine compartment as the front coil springs take up space. Also the tranny is offset to the passenger side - so it just wouldn't work unless you really were going to do something really crazy like a rear engine location - which would be a sacrilege!
