it´s a good possibility, alas a sad one to help a little bit in appreciation of this helpful forum:
I own a 1978 Pinzgauerr Firetruck that was never in military service, here pictures back from 1978, when the vehicle was given to the fire brigade in Kapfenberg-Hafendorf, Styria ...

Thanks Dennis for your quick and as always substantiated reply. Unfortunately, my old Souriau engine analyzer just gives a CO reading, I know HC and so on would be nice, well Captain Wallet wasn´t so fond of more sophisticated equipment for a weekend mechanic like me...

Carb Adjustment - again -sorry
Sorry for another carb adjustment question, but I hope for your expertise:
After having bought a CO tester that actually works (e-bay, loger story... :? ), I tried to adjust the carbs (+synchronize of course) on my 712 last weekend. All adjustment screws 2 turns out gave around 4% CO, idle at 990 ...

I changed to SAE 75W90 before the weekend, found the sound somewhat improved. I lost the strong resonant sound, so now its only LOUUUUUUD, but not ear splitting anymore. I will invest in some insulation and the La Guardia fix is on the line....
On a side note: Did you experience any troubles ...

Thanks to all for the quick replies,
I guess I´ll have to invest into some sound insulation, at the moment it´s bare metal (+paint) in the back, so I hope some padding will diminuish the noise to tolerable levels. Incorrect pinion height does seem to be a good guess, but I´d expected such things ...

Driving Noise
Hi to all,
as I am new here, I guess I should introduce myself before asking for help. I live in Innsbruck, Austria, and got myself a 712K ex fire engine with just 15 K miles. It had some rust problems in the rear wheel arches (well really small, had to replace everything.... ), and is on ...
