ebay pinz--good for a laugh

Post by Pinzgear »

I get a kick out of watching what comes up in the pinz world on ebay every now and again. This one was posted recently:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Other-Ma ... enameZWDVW

Funny thing is that the seller is a luxury car dealership in CA. I can just see how good the OD green pinz looks parked on the lot next to all of the shiny BMW's and Mercedes.

I also got a laugh out of the options listed:
--Safety features: All wheel drive (you mean all SIX of them?)
--Audio/Video: Factory system (they come straight from the factory with DVD/Navigation/satellite Bose radio systems, don't they?)

I wish I lived closer just so I could go in, act interested, and watch the salesman squirm trying to answer a barrage of technical questions.

I don't know that the price is out of line. $17k for a 712 seems pretty reasonable. Besides, it passed carfax and "is a one of a kind 6x6 made in Austria for the Swiss military" (I wonder if "truth in advertising" applies here)

Wonder if it comes with 50,000 miles of free service? Now THAT would be a deal I would do!

ebay pinz - good for a laugh

If you look real close at the pics of said pinz, you will find a pic of the vin plate by the drivers seat, sure looks like a bogus plate to me (being printed and not stamped), though the year and vin do seem legit infact if it is it is only 17 digits away from my own 712, just looks fishy to me, check it and see how you feel.

I like the condition report:
Good Interior - no cigarette burns on the metal?
Good Carpets - I imagine if you don't have carpet, the condition would be good.
Good Seats -
Good Dashboard
Good Panels / Headliner - Headliner?
Good Exterior
Good Original Paint
Good Trim Condition
Good Glass Condition
Good Convertible Top
No Visible Dents
No Visible Rust
No Known Accidents
No Known Bodywork

Fully Detailed - Someone hosed it out

Just an FYI, one of the VIN plates is stamped, the other is printed. I checked the VIN number on the frame, and it matches.

This truck appears to have come from Action Mobile; I spoke to Peter last week about it, he doesn't have specifics on it, but he vaguely remembers selling it to the BMW dealership. I wish I could find out who refinished the Pinz. I would say it might be a factory refurb, as well as it runs and looks, but I would think that they would have replaced certain items such as shocks? (anyone have a clue?) It seems weird to have a 35 year old truck with almost zero rust or dents.
