Repairing the Engine Cover?

Post by todds112 »

Well my engine cover is failing fast. It has several apparent patches on it already. Looks like fiberglass set in a black compound. It just cracked right between the 2 rear latches when I was taking it out. The front patch is also seperating from the cover and is flexing there as well. Is there a good way to repair them? The price of a new one is just ridiculous. I could probably have a fiberglass shop re-mold one from scratch for cheaper.

I want to repair the cracks and then line-X the whole thing.

Engine Cover

I'd be interested if anyone has a good solution to repairing/replacing the engine cover. Mine is still serviceable but it has a few chunks missing around the edges. I was thinking of using fiberglass to repair it to the best of my abilities and then having it recovered in material to match the top or the seats.
