Pinz 712 Weight

Post by pinzwheeling »

Just in case anyone is interested. I went to the dump yesterday to get rid of some household junk. I decided to pay by weight instead of the set fee of $48 because of the 3 axles. (ended up paying $7 by weight)

When I weighed the truck on the way out, it was 5760 lbs. I have a winch, winch bumper, two 5 gallon gas cans full, 3/4 tank of gas, two spare tires (one on the roof, one on the back) and probably an extra 120-130 lbs of tools and miscellaneous stuff like a high lift.

I regularly get asked the weight of my 712M; now I can answer.

Florida will not register a vehicle over 5000 lbs as an antique unless it is used solely in parades and displays. I stripped everything out of my 712 except the driver's seat and it weighed in at 4780 with about a half tank of gas.

Wow, 1000 lb difference. I figure I have an extra 500lbs of stuff, amazing that you could find another 4-500 lbs in stripping the truck. Of course, I guess I could really strip it down by removing the entire back body structure if I needed to. :)

The stuff I took out was just the tools, jack, spare tire, passenger seat and assorted other stuff in back. All the canvas and framework stayed on.

Michael,

I remember a few years ago when I got mine, took it the day after I got it to get it weighed and with 1/2 a tank of gas or so it weighed in at exactly 5000 lbs, the guy at the scale couldnt belive it so he had me pull off and he zereoed out his scale and had me pull back on, again exactly 5000 lbs. couldnt belive it he said he has never had a vehicle weigh an exact even nuber before, but like you as you know I have added a ton of stuff, not sure I want to know the weight now.....

A Pinzgauer 712 SAN, with no snow chains chains, no car jack, no tools and no fire extinguisher. All of that without the SAN box - so simply the 712 SAN without the box and about 1/3 of gasoline in the tank weighs 2,100 Kg.

I'm guessing that you're probably less than me. The extra spare tire, mount, winch, and winch bumper probably add a good 250-300 lbs. Of course, I don't have all that sound deadening, compressor and tanks and other stuff that you have somehow managed to fit on yours :)
