Replacement options for the chicken $hit Pinzgauer horn

Post by texas pinzgauer »

Is there an easy replacement unit for the worthlessly goofy Peewee Herman sounding OEM horn? People see this truck and admire its stark simplicity, unique and efficient design right up until you beep the horn and it looks (sounds?) like 25 Shriners (no offense to Shriners, honest!) should be jumping out the back and on to their little trikes.

Please tell be that there's a replacement unit that people have found that is easy to install and sounds like a real horn.

Thanks!

I had a train horn on mine for about a week. until the neighborhood officer told me if I honked one more time it would disappear it was audible for three or four miles must people would freak when I would give them a move it honk kids would cry  you could fill it in your chest even in side the pinzgauer

I have the air horn out of an M35 truck, mounted in the air tunnel. works and sounds great.

Interesting... I find the horn one of the more endearing features. I love climbing up a nice obstacle with people watching and as I complete the obstacle, I always finish with a Meep-Meep (insert RoadRunner sound effect here)

The horn in my Dodge M37's is fairly healthy. They are 2v and easy to get a hold of. They are not terribly obnoxious but are substantially better than the pinz horn.
Of course the best option is an air horn from your favorite place. My 712's is a 17" brass air horn and very loud, also installed in the air tunnel.
