That Haflinger of Dave's looks kind of like a pink runt. Is he planning on adding a Pinzgauer TD-esque front end to it to make it look like his cow's offspring?

If you were to go that route, why waste your time with a Mog when you could be doing so with a Tatra like the one that Jim was checking out recently. BTW, Jim have you heard or seen any progress on the Tatra ultimate offroad camping expedition vehicle?

I need to do it in steps.... start small with a Haf, up through the 1300 and so forth...

As of 4:30 AM (and a 8 1/2 hour trip), the 1300 landed in my driveway(rightside up ) .....Jim, does ya want to help me put it back together? ... the truck is pretty much as it came out of the container..... a big jigsaw puzzle .....heck, with my hands , I never could handle those little cardboard ones.....

I have been around these groups a very long time, and have some very good friends and know the backgrouund on a lot more, so telling you price wouldn't matter. Visit EuroTruck or Expedition Imports websites and see what they may have in a SBU with a turbo'ed engine and fast axles..... there is no free ride in any of the diesel mogs, and ANY upgrade makes a Pinz look like a super value.

It came down to having the truck presented to me by someone I know and trust, and know and trust everyone that had anything to do with this truck.... pictures really weren't needed, and only had a couple pics of the truck that had been forward to me a couple months earlier as a "point of interest", before it was for sale.

i'm just looking for the perfect vessel to get me to the perfect places. i think i'm getting closer. i may need to buy something new to get truly happy. i might be willing to rearrange my life to do that pretty soon...

There is no truly perfect vehicle! They are all some kind of compromise. It is a matter of which you can live with, and afford. Each person has a preceived idea of want they want and have to have, then comes the need, what will you actually use.

If you want to continue this line, start a new thread in general chat.... I need to go start the jigsaw puzzle now

But I thought the Haflinger _was_ the perfect vehicle.

It's just that... Some roads are too long. Other people drive too fast. Some loads from Home Depot are too large. Sometimes too many people insist on riding along. And other cars have spoiled us for creature comforts, like air conditioning. Or doors.

Sometimes the rocks are even too big.

But the Haflinger, perfect!

Many years ago I purchased an old cast-iron treadle sheet-metal guilotine from a secondhand machinery dealer.... it must weigh about 400+ kg (I still use it)
I collected it in the Haffy ..... Ohh boy!! ...was that an INTERESTING drive home!
