The Icelandic Pinz is lifted, with the whole body including suspension mounts raised. That size of wheel / tyre is pretty normal in Iceland for anyone who wants to venture up on the snow on the glaciers.

Ingenious set-ups. If I wasn't so cold adverse it would be really nice to make a trip like that.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your trip. The scenery and your photography in general are excellent. You have a real gift. It also looks like you had a great time. Where's your next great adventure going to be?? I love my pinz, but I can't imagine putting that many miles on it. Congrats again on a great blog.

Well if you follow the link to Shropshire Gun bus you will see the pictures so I'm just going to give up as they don't want to upload!
Pinzgauer seems to like a good long run, I wouldn't worry about doing long trips. Some people use Pinzgauers for round the world trips!
Next trip is a short one, round Highlands of Scotland this Christmas, will add some pics after.....

Not to derail the link about the truley epic Iceland journey but there were a couple of very cool Pinzs at this shop's website (
http://www.shropshiregunbus.co.uk/)
I was actually wondering if the 712K and the "high flotation" Icelandic rigs would be legal in the US?
