What is an SDP build card and where do I get this info? Also I have heard about CARC paint on this site and I was wondering what part of this paint is dangerous, is it the paint or the hardner? Is it only bad to spray or is it bad after it has hardened. Is stripping or sanding the problem? Will other paint stick on top of this paint or does it have to be stripped? Thanks Steve

I am getting ready to send in for my sf97 from GL and I could use some help on how to fill it out. The vin # is VAG71621110000090 so what year should I put on SF97? I assume the model is 718-p90 is that correct? I found the gross vehicle weight is 3500KG which I can convert to lbs but what is the empty weight? I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks Steve

That is going to be an odd VIN number as:
716 = 4x4 model
2 = short model
1 = open vehicle (or M)
1 = manual
1 = LHD
0000090 = production number (cant tell the date from this, but 'could' be a P80) Dave would know if it is prior to or his VAG number
Weights, I can't put my finger on that at this moment. Will have a dig after work through my stuff

Now I am confused It is a 718 not 716 it is not short it is an automatic not standard and what does LDH mean? How can a data tag be that far off? Is there a second data tag somewhere on this vehicle? Thanks Steve

I am hoping the that the VIN or VAG starts with 718 as if not it is a bit weird. Vehicles change but I doubt they went from a 4x4 to a 6x6. You could check the engine number and chassis tube number and see if they match.
Chassis tube number is located on the front RH side, just rear of the front diff
I got a bit excited when the VAG refered to a short as I was thinking a 716 short model as they never went into production. But I think the new manual just refers to short as being a 716, not the 716 short (which is shorter)
LHD = left hand drive

I can't locate some info right now, but the VIN is wrong... as is the GVW. 716 is 3500kg, 718, 4500GVW ( 2.2 x for lbs). Later UK Pinzes, 3850 and 4950Kg
While digging around my house, I found some more pamplets from ATL ( dated 06/02). Mike, I'll scan them in the next few days and email them to you
Steve, check the central tube on the right side, the VIN is stamped into it.... or at least suppose to be.

The dataplate is a "remake". The original dataplates had only 16 digits. 17 digit VINs came into play sometime much later. Several TDs I had VINs on, had chassis # in the 900 to 1100 range and have only 16 digits. Base weight for a 718 is 2550kg.

As far as I am aware the shorties never went anywhere, i.e. into service as they 'reputely' had an issue with falling over too easilly.
Yes the GVN what a nightmare when a pencil pusher sees them they freak. What I got told by SDP are that they are towing weights not carrying weights which is opposite what everyone else does. But I guess if you design something to tow big guns it is perhaps important.

I had heard that the shorties were squirrelly also. But basically, the shorty was made one of 2 ways, by using the central tube from a 710, giving it the same wheelbase as a 710, and/or also using the shorter spacer of a 712/18.
Another owner of a Swedish 716 was told by SDP that his was a P90... a good trick, as it had the P80 radiator shroud...does ya think they just cut off the tanks to the radiator to mount the shroud?

Oh, BTW, if ever get around to it, I have a computer that the motherboard died on about 6years ago... it had scans of most all of ATL's newsletters
