A big thanks to Expedition Imports (Scott)

I just wanted to take a moment and publicly thank Scott. I know that we took way more of his time to get my electric steering worked out then anticipated. During the whole process he never gave up on trying to get it worked out. The extraordinary steps taken to help get it going were unbelievable. Scott allowed us to come to his shop where he helped diagnose the issues and was a great host. We swapped pieces and parts out until he found the problem area in my truck, then he provided the parts to fix the issue. I found it very refreshing to find someone still willing to make sure the customer was happy with little regards for themselves.
I can not thank him enough for all he has done to make this system work for me.

Turned out to be a frozen (nearly frozen) sector shaft gear in the steering box.
Thru the process we got some new data points on the electric power steering.
#1 - You need to have a good/excellent steering gearbox to start with. If not, rebuild prior to installing the steering system.
#2 - The unit has no problem handling Wider wheels/tires and a very heavy truck. (limited testing on this, we will look forward to Mike using the truck off-road and giving more feedback.)
Cheers,
Scott

If I were to do this upgrade again I would just factor in the cost of the rebuild kit. Not all that expensive and it would insure proper operation. I had no idea there was an issue with my steering box until we took it apart. Thank goodness Scott had the parts in stock when we were there.
I just can't believe his patience with my visit. Very impressive.

My steering could not be adjusted anymore, so i decided to go for a full refurbishment.
once I took it apart i knew why
I also replaced the bronze bushings and the ball point bearings. The bottom one is easy, but the upper one requires a special tool.
I had this done at a ZF shop.
runs like new now, and steering is a kids play now

this is what we found in the steering box.
