I wanted a bottle that would hold one dose (10oz) of diesel fuel treatment which could fit inside the spare tire storage lid. So I found a perfect fit and bought a 10oz $2.99 bottle of gasoline additive from OReilys and figured it would also hold the diesel version of the same thing.

Good thing I checked in there today. This was about 24 hours after adding the diesel stuff. It felt like a thick rubber balloon!

How about a stainless steel water bottle instead? On second thought, a camper's fuel bottle may be better and has a small hole just below the O-ring to release pressure as it is opened. Personally, I carry a 1L (about a quart) of additive in the brick shaped bottle it comes in from TSC along with a cheap graduated cylinder.

As for this fluid, toss it out! Contaminated fluid could bugger your high pressure pump or injectors. (You likely did this already but I would hate to not say it and hear of a problem later.)

Thanks, good idea. I found a 12oz camping fuel bottle for $13. I was hoping for a flatter design but this looks small enough to squeeze in there. A flask would work but I don't trust the caps on most of them.

Flask! Now, I like that idea! How about a good sized stainless steel pocket flask for liquor? Mine has an O-ring seal which should be no problem or easily replaced. It has the profile you want too. Just don't forget poison labelling! ( XXX or a Jolly Roger could be misleading! ) The smell should be enough warning but...
