Is it ok to use an impact to remove the fan/pulley nut?
I have 3 to choose from to accommodate torque levels. Pneumatic 1/2”, dewalt brushless 1/2”, and dewalt brushless driver.

Also, is there a torque setting for putting it back on?

I wouldn't use one, it's all unique hardware no margin if you mess it up.
Use the special fan locking pliers and a breaker bar. Torque = 67 Nm.

The reason I ask is because my front main seal is weeping a bit.

So, removing the nut that holds the bottom pulley, same question: impact?

What about putting the nut back on?

Ya, did that front main seal repair before. Ya, impact OK for that bad boy.
Getting the dang seal out can be a PITA at times.

I've done the rear, but not the front.
Make sure everything is spotless before installation and there are no burrs anywhere and the shaft is undamaged. Make sure to lubricate the seal.

For the rear seal, I used a piece of ABS pipe fitting that was a nice diameter match, and a board over that, and gently tapped into place. Can't speak to the front, but maybe something similar will work.

I changed that seal.
I broke the pulley while trying to hold it in place to remove the nut. Cast iron is fragile.
I jammed a wrench on the nut and spinned the engine a second, it worked. Be sure to disconnect the distributor so the engine does not actually starts. Discussed here :

Putting the pulley back in was a pain, I had to tap it in as it did not slide in, but there is a keyway on it so you need to align it very well first, so you don't push the key. Took me a while.

67NM in case you have a M14 Nut, 150NM if you have the M16
