I've been told that someone out there has a winch mount/adaptor that will pin into the pintle on the front bumper. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find that? - Buzz

The only one I know of is this one. Converts the front pintle into a standard hitch reciver that you can mount many things to including a winch. Go here http://www.t2k.com/pinz/id20.htm

That item was posted on the Yahoo groups and I believe under Socal Pinz old website. I have been told you can search for old info somehow. Some website archived other websites and still has that info available. Don't ask me how, but maybe a ghuru will tell how.

This type of winch mount has been discussed before. It is not without controversy. I recall that the biggest concern was the torque on the pintle area that would be caused by an off-axis pull. It could bend things up pretty bad.

Others argued that a winch should be more solidly mounted overall. I don't know the math, but I would feel safer with the winch being tied more strongly to the structure of the truck.

The cargo platform application was cute. Why not mount a genset and a refrigerator on the cargo platform, then have cold beer wherever you go? :D

Recently have seen the 'nose ring' mount on the Swiss Army Vehicle site.
Also recall the 'Knuckle Down' site showing one, but they may have changed hands to another company.

There is a "winchguard" bumper on that same site that Bernhard linked to:
http://www.t2k.com/pinz/id19.htm

I'd enjoy hearing from anybody who has experince using a similar setup.
I like the fact the the winch is not right in front of the air intake and the bumper doubles as a brushguard.

Does this setup have any negative impact on the center of gravity when winching?
This type of thing may have been discussed before. If so, can anyone summarize the pros and/or cons?

Thanks!

I've looked for a winch mount that didn't block the air but im not shure if thats how it should be done, kinda looks like it would either squash itself or tip over and pop off. If anyone has one of these thou would like to hear feedback on it

I elieve it will take more than a winch to restrict air flow, the fan REALLY pulls air. :D ...I would be concentrating on placement of winch for recovery options. .. Mark

Mark, that makes a lot of sense.

Say... I also found this winch bumper on the "MogsRus" site:

http://www.mogsrus.com/tloswinchbumper.html

It costs more than I'm planning to spend, but it looks like a nice set up.
The designs are actually very similar. I wonder if the first one can be modified.

I may ask the reseller and post the reply.
- Thanks!

I have the winch bumper from MogsRus (T-Lo's) and really like it. The only thing I wish it had was something similar to what Patrick at Cold War Remarketing has done and put recovery points on the bumper. I use tow straps and shackles but have to secure them to the upper tubes, not real comfortable with this when wanting to just pull someone out with the truck.

Never had any airflow problems with mine and with the additional lights I did lose some intake area.
I was a little cautious at first, and did a few basic tests, but even in 40+C (104F+) I've never had any cooling problems (well NOT with the Pinny!...driver maybe :P )

Hmm. thats good to know that the airflow wont be hurt, also opens a place for me to put lights to.
