Ok , This has been posted for a few months now. So who all is planning to visit our desert this year? It really is a nice time of year, and a very well organised gathering. There have usually been around 6 Pinzes in the past, and 2 years back , there was a haflinger that ran the same trail as the rest.
Cheers

Dave,
Expect to see another Haflinger there this year. At the very least I am hoping to be there for Saturday.

I am planning on attending as well. What will be the situation for replenishing ice? Not a problem for you, I know.

There is a minimart about 3 miles from the campgrounds by the freeway. I am not sure what there is in the ghost town itself.

To clear this up, the camping is going to be at the Calico Ghost Town campgrounds? What does it take to get the ohv permit? and is it required for this event? I know stupid questions but what do you expect from an Arizona guy.

I have gone for several years, never a OHV permit required.
The ghost town has an ice cream parlor and a restaurant, but the meals prepared by Kai & company cannot be beat.
LOts of mog and pinz chat.
There are also non-hookup sites for tent campers. Water is close and the showers are worth the admission fee.
Cheers,
Morris

Sounds like a good time. I should find out soon from the Arizona Game and Fish about which hunts if any I got drawn for. That will determine my fall/winter schedule. If all goes well I will try to make this event.

Thanks for the reply Morris. Those planning to attend need to notify Kia (and pay) for the group meals and reserve your camping space with Calico Ghost Town.

I called the ranger at Calico last week to make a reservation. They were surprised when I asked for a non-hookup site. It is better if you call than email them (they may not respond). You can reserve a site with your credit card over the phone for the first night and pay on-site for the next night.
The hookup sites go quick. There is a big group of RV campers (they have been there the last three years) that camp around the circle and the kids go tricking for candy at night and dress up in costumes for Holloween.

I just got my reservation in for Fri and Sat. The Ranger indicated there are still plenty of dry sites. I scored the same spot I had last time. WOOHOO!
Now I HAVE to get my radio console done before that boring drive down I-15.
How about a Pinz night run? I don't remember if the big guys do a night run or not.
