Its all about timing...

What is the most advance that a Pinz engine can run on regular unleaded gas? I thought I had read somewhere that the Pinz engine was sensitive to timing.
The reason I ask is that after installing a Pertronix module, I checked the timing. It was slightly advanced, so I adjusted the distributor back. I was only able to get it to around 5mm advanced with a warm engine (I believe the stock spec is 3mm advance with a warm engine). The engine rpm at idle correspondingly went up slightly. I'm trying to decide if I leave the timing at 5mm and adjust the carbs to give a lower idle speed or if I adjust the distributor more. The reason I didn't adjust the dizzy back more is that it seemed to be physically blocked from turning any more...I'm thinking it may have to be adjusted one tooth over.
