In short we have looked at doing a right hooker, it looks like it can be done although we didn't see much use in that project since we need left hookers in the USA.

Currently we have looked at a Volvo Penta engine (ex marine application), Merb M617 T and we are about to stuff a Landrover 4 litre petrol c/w its auto box into a unit we have. Obviously if the V8 will fit then the TD5 LR diesel will fit no sweat.

Dennis,

Which Volvo Penta engine were you considering? I know the MB OM617A turbo is a relatively high rpm engine and should allow for no loss of top speed in a Volvo C-series truck. Is the Volvo Penta also a high revving diesel?

Take care.

Jim
The diesel conversion really dictates the use of an O/D transmission.

i'm considering a 4 cylinder 3500 nissan diesel turbo and land rover automatic because the rear tank cross beam restricts the gearbox that can be used....and when i looked at the girth a v8 appeared as it would not fit without some major changes to the tunnel or dropping the engine which creates a whole new set of problems..........

Currently we have done "physical offer ups" to the Volvo chassis including the Chev V6, "squeezed a Chev V8" in there and have done a LR offer up as my past post indicated.
