Getting ready for Calico, I reshod my Swiss Haf for offroading in rocks with some Bobcat tires. I had once tried Carlisle 6-12 Super Lugs (2 ply,very common and very bouncy). I have been using 185/80R -13 All Trax winter tires on Fiat wheels for the road (I am very happy with these).

A dealer on ebay specializing in equipment tires found these, and seem to meet all the spec for the need. These are 5.70 -12 ( same physical size as a Semperit 165-12), 6 ply rating and a load range of 1400lbs plus. With the little that I have run these, they are very smooth compared to the Super Lugs, where you could easily lose your lunch after hitting the road on them

Size for size, the sidewalls and beads seems heavier than the Michelin XZLs on the Pink Cow ( why not, they're made for skid steers) . Just they do not have a highway rating

Those new Bobcat tires look great! I'm going to have to replace the lug tires on my Haflinger at some point soon, and if you are happy with your tires, I may want to get some as well. Who on ebay was selling them--I looked there but didn't find any in that size.

He is in Palmdale/ Lancaster area, and is a broker for industrial tires. I told him what I was looking for and the parameters, and this was what he came back with. He faxed the spec sheet to my shop, I could scan it and email it to you.
You do not want any of the 7.00 -12s, as they are over 26 1/2 ". He was thinking a 6.50-12 would be correct, but didn't find any. ...

Well, Calico has come and gone, and the skid steer tires proved how tough they are.

This is the worse of the tire damage


This rim didn't fair as well ,but even with a 3/4" dent at the edge of the rim, it never broke the bead, or lost air.


These are a couple of pics of the skid steer tires next to the 185/80-13 All Trax tires I use for the road.



After 2 days of running these at Calico, I feel very good about these tires in some very unforgiving rocks. The on road ride is better than chevron tires I had used in the past, but nowhere near that of the street tires I use, and braking seems a bit less ( probably because of the lower amount of road contact of the tread)

Is 26-1/2" the max OD for off-road?

On my Swiss Haflinger, it looks like 26 inches is about the maximum with the corner of the battery box being the first metal that would make contact. Again, that is with the tire sitting on level ground without any articulation.
