Does anyone know where I can get some head gaskets for the Pinz. When I start my rig, the blue smoke blows out the exhaust pretty heavily, which would lead me to believe that the oil is leaking through the gasket onto the cylinder head and combusting when I start it. This is also causing the plug on my #1 cylinder to foul within a few days of replacing it. The plug comes out with oil on it. There is also an external leak from what I can see on the #3 cylinder. I'm hoping that its just the gasket and that the piston rings haven't gone bad, but SAV's website says that they are out of stock, and CWR and EI don't list any on their website. Also, does anyone know if they can be changed without removing the engine?

There are no head gaskets, and to replace pushrod tube seals the heads have to come off. All the info to do these repairs are in the parts and service manuals. If you don't have a set, you need to order them with your parts. Some engines have no valve seals due to oversized valve guides.
Look through the valve spring to see if there are seals or if the guides are correct.
Do a Compression and cylinder leak down test prior to repairs to aid in diagnosing source of oil consumption.

Just a reminder now the warmer weather is here.

Cleaning out the engine cooling capsule may just save you from a sudden occurance of oil burning due to partial seizures and piston ring fractures.
Cost to fix can exceed $3000.

6 months ago a million hectares went up in smoke, now a lot of that bush is covered in snow....it's a crazy world!
Mind you no one is really complaining about winter coming, as we need all the rain we can get as we are still on serious water restrictions!
As Aussies say...."Send it down Heuy!"

I can empathise on the arrival of the rains. When I lived in Iraq we would look forward to the rain arrival in November, setting up tables and chairs on the roof top with beers waiting for the first drops to arrive. Guess who were the first guests to crack open the tinnies--- Auzzies. Good on yer mate!

Glad to hear you are using that Webasto after junking the old un due to combustion chamber suspicions. You know my dear old Mah would say that an untimely death from things like CO poisoning are avoidable but when yer time comes it should find you in your best light so that everyone can celebrate and like a sophisticated English lady you should aim to arrive LATE.
