Without sharing too many details, I've come across a nearly complete and original Haflinger here in the Houston area that can possible be acquired.

It belongs to the owner of a car dealer here and he's had it in storage for many years. (All of those stories about finding a perfect unrestored 356 or 2002 in a barn in Vermont, here's the Haflinger version...sort of.)

It's apparently a US spec vehicle and looks complete. It's unrestored and I suspect he would sell it if someone expressed interest in it. PM me and we can talk about how to go about connecting you with him. I sense that he would sell to someone who planned to own and enjoy it rather than a dealer but I'm guessing....

I also have some photos I can email you if you like.

Now Greg, What's wrong with having a Haflinger Sanctuary :?:
A place where a Haflinger isn't abused or fogotten.
A place where a Haflinger isn't afraid a VW engine being shoved up it's rear
A place where a Haflinger isn't persectuted for being a PolyCab.
A place where a Haflinger isn't judged by whether it LHD or RHD
A place where a Haflinger gets the spiritual guidance of its Pink Cow.
A place where a Haflinger is safe under the watchful eye of the SupaCat.
A place where a Haflinger isn't judged by its nationallity, be it Austrian, Swiss, US, British, or even OZian.
A place where a Haflinger isn't deemed a mere ATV

If that didn't bring a tear to your eye... go back and read it again while humming the " Battle Hymm of the Republic ".
 :D :D

Turns out, the owner doesn't want to part with it. In addition to being a Mercedes Benz, Aston Martin, Lotus and Volvo dealer now, he was a Haflinger dealer back when they were imported into the US for road use. He's had this one for over 30 years and it's been stored for well over 10 years at his dealership.

I finally spoke with him and asked about his interest in selling it and it hadn't even occured to him to get rid of it.

Sorry to get all of your Haflinger fans all jacked up but it ain't happenin'.
