Volvo Dosco

The Venturers Search and Rescue have a Volvo C303 Ambulance
which is still used for SAR in the New Forest. We also have the
Dosco version which was fitted with V8 range rover engine and
5 speed geabox . In 1987 we won the Army Heavy Vehicle trials
at Bovington with ten clear rounds . Next year they handicapped us .
We shipped the Dosco version to the USA on a Rollo Ferry with our
teenage cadets to explore the old wagon trails of the wild West
on three occasions . Only got stuck once on the Mojava Trail from
Needles to Bastow when we were crossing the notorious Soda Lake.
The five speed box and V8 gave a much better performancs thant
the Volvo B30. Dosco Nr. Nottingham tried to get the Army contract
to replace the FC101 , and purchased 6 chassis cabs for conversion
We purchased the lot including a 6X6 , which we sold to African
Safari Company. We still haver a certain amount of spares including
new 5 speed box which I doubt if we will ever use.
