hi i was in disbelief when i first cranked up my gas heater in the 710k,it bellowed out this super toxic looking black smoke, that smelled like ozone death after a while it cleared out and it didn't smoke very much.but i was just wondering has anyone else thought about this or maybe tested the exhaust to see how much it was creating . any info or just tell me what you think about this? thanks.

Looks like a classic example of, "don't ask, don't tell".

I would only hope improvements have been made over the last 30+ years! Dennis at Linden has done some of these, too bad he won't post here now.

The manual suggests running the heater every month to keep it working, so even if you plan to use it only in emergencies I would give it a blast from time to time. Mine smelled a lot at first but it was just the seals on the exhaust and an old wasps nest in the heater pipe!

I used the Eberspacher BN2 in my Haflinger for nearly 20 years, and when I restore the vehicle back to running condition hopefully in the next couple of years I intend to use that same heater again.
I remember in the 70's been yonger and stupider, I didn't get around to fitting an external air intake to the BN2, and every now and again the heater would "backfire" and a few flames would shoot out onto the passengers feet.....Ahh, those were the good old days!
BTW, I do love my new Webasto 3500 in my Pinny!

I had Dennis install the 2000 in my 710M and it works great.
Only used it once on the trip back to Seattle from Denver. With the back flap down I only heat the cab and I only have the two outlet vents in the cab.
The petrol consumption is very low (per the manual) and it should not be much of a drain this winter.

This will get your wallet. You are going to pay over $900 for the heater alone...and you might want to have someone that knows what they are doing install it.
I don't know if there is a connection to the warranty but there are some interesting connections to make.

i noticed some people said they removed their heat exchanger does this mean more horsepower or maybe when they put it back together they just didn't use the original parts?
