Someone asked about the Red Bull Pinz? Oh yeah, it was me!

So Adam Blank calls me this morning and asks if I know why one of the Red Bull Pinzgauers is in Houston......hu? Really? Yeah, really!
Turn out some Red Bull folks are here for a meeting. (I guess they couldn't all fit into their F1 car after all). Here's a link to some photos I took. I tried to capture details that fellow Pinz owners would want to look at. This is definitely a very complex vehicle compared to a stock 712 but it was also an impressive piece of work.
Both Adam and I left them a note on the windshield so perhaps we'll be able to meet up with them while they're here and get some more photos and maybe look around inside this rig.
Enjoy

Tom L the driver of Red Bull #2 Just made comments on his facebook that he is being relocated to Texas. Don't know yet if it is a new job or relocating the truck. Did you look closely at the 5 lug MB wheels hiding the disk brakes on that one. (unit #7)

I DID notice the brakes! This rig has definitely been heavily massaged.
I thought it was unit #1 (sticker on the back window). Let your buddy know that there are some Pinz owners in Houston, Austin, Dallas AND Comstock if he ever wants to get together with some of his air cooled brothers.

That's a great question. I have no reason to believe there's something other than a Pinz motor in there but, if someone has more knowledge of those changes to this rig, I'm all ears.

The short answer is "NO", that braking system design was never completed by Bruce. It uses a Mercedes bolt pattern and NON DOT AFTERMARKET CALIPERS. In short, if you were to get into collission, your insurance would walk away leaving you to pay all claims
It is amazing that these parts made it onto a truck considering those parts all "dissapeared". That is all I can really say as I don't care to disguss such tasteless acts.
To do the job properly you must use dual calipers on the fronts amongst other prudent protections and certifications.

They are dual calipers look at the pics. And they are dot rated called wildwood today the brakes were redone for red bull. Same bolt pattern as the td pinzgauer.

There is also a article on the brakes just have to use the right search engine.

Those are not TD bolt pattern if they were supplied to A to Z by Stephan.
I know more about this mod than you could possibly fathom as well as the source of the parts and designs. A local wheel manufacturer here recently scrapped around 80+ steel wheels that were made and never paid for.............................................
I have heard the RTP trucks are due to be retired soon. Maybe you can get one on Ebay if it is true

Heres the specs for that rim.
Width = 8"
Offset = 60-70mm
Bolt Pattern = 5 x 130mm
Center bore = 84mm
Load Rating = 2250lbs per wheel minimum
Now what is the bolt pattern of the TD?
Just need to know were to look!

Nice pics of a pretty neat truck. Wish I had that kind of money.
Thanks for remembering Comstock.
