We now have our Pinzgauer 710K Diesel

Picked it up yesterday, took around 4 hours to get home at a steady 85Kph, mostly on Motorway (Freeway). I didn,t push her faster for any long stretches, and everything just seemed to run smooth at 85Kph. Used half a Tank of Diesel. She has about the same performance as my Landrover, slightly less acceleration. I will go into more details about this Diesel Conversion as I get more used to it (pics to follow). I must say I am pleased with it, where is all the rust you guys talk about?? the underneath and rust proofing looks like it came out of the factory a week or so ago, granted its a 710K and only has 37000Kms on it. Technically it is a tour de force underneath....I,m comparing to Landrovers which is not fair at all considering the price difference new. One thing I know is, the maloyas have to go...just the feel of the rubber is all wrong, they feel Rock Hard, like big excavator tyres, I,m sure she will handle so much better with My Goodyear G90s on (which are almost the same circumference though not as wide) The wheels seem to be an anomaly which was pointed out to me, they are offset reversed....they stick out!!! and they seem to be factory...they do not have the look of being done at a later date, no weld out of place and the paint seems correct???? any ideas.?? I don,t mind as it widens the track and can be no bad thing. But why didn,t anyone say how bad those Maloyas are??? (are they directional?? if so two - opposite diagonals of mine need swapping!!!! that might help directional stability) There is no play elsewhere in the steering. I know what you Americans mean when you complain about no power steering.....I,m glad I,ve been used to old Landrovers so it came as no shock it does take some effort at low speeds. I am going to love this vehicle, it is so versatile and turns heads as much as my wifes 1970 midnight blue MG Midget. (Though I think when I drive by they are thinking WTF is that????)
