I think the Mashie guys have just taken the existing vehicle Dale had for sale (or one very much like it - the reg nos are almost sequential) and bolted some sh1t in the back - I don't think they did the original conversion at all (hence the "build" bit of their vid being photoshop).

Yes it is the other ex-Spartan Rescue 712. Not sure if it was sold throgh Haflinger technik the second time though. Dale still has its 4x4 cousin and its sister 712 belongs to cronapress on here. You can see the same vehicle here:

I own the Pinz featured at http://mashie.tv so I’ve joined the forum to respond to the points in this thread.

I know that many purists would rather see Pinzs in “original” state with nothing but oem parts and in their “original” military livery or camo garb or at the very least “suitably” attired for extreme off-roading. I guess it’s a matter of individual taste. Pinzs have been converted for use for all sorts of purposes – firetrucks, campervans, overlanders, Red Bull promo vehicles. While we all share our love of these amazing vehicles I guess we all have our personal preferences as to what they should look like (Erik712m didn’t seem offended by this one). Just as well I didn’t cover it in urban graffiti or do some weird vinyl wrap!

Yes, you are partially correct in that this 712 was part of the same fleet that Dale has recently had advertised. ScottishPinz is nearer the mark in that we actually bought ours direct from Spartan Support (Spartan Rescue) at RAF Alconbury in early 2007. When I was looking for a part-converted 712, Dale at Haflinger Technik was extremely helpful in putting me in touch with Mark Burnett. Spartan Support (who I think had bought some/all of them from Dale in the first place) had already done the bodywork mods and their entire fleet of operational Pinzs was black with aluminium roller shutter doors.
As far as I am aware Spartan Support were planning to move over to Mogs in 2007 and Dale may have taken the other Pinzs back., which is why there have been similar on the Haflinger Technik website in the last year or two.
So you are correct in saying this was NOT an original conversion (from military spec) by us. The vehicle already had black bodywork with roller shutters when we bought it and we did the work from there on in. The video / photomontage is intended to mock up / simplify all the stages from an original 712 to its current state and while some minimal artistic license may have been used no offence is intended, either to previous owners or to people who may dislike the styling. There is more info on the vehicle and the mods at a different page on our website at http://mashie.tv/services/mashie-mobile/ . This clarifies who did which bits (or who “bolted which sh1t”
if you prefer).
In an ideal world I’d keep my Pinz just for offroading and have some other vehicle modified for festival and urban projection, but in reality I just can’t afford to run lots of different vehicles for different purposes. So this has ended up as a hybrid – which I can kit out for projection when needed, or still use in stripped out state (and with its different roof on) for pure mudlarking / extreme offroading.

For anyone who's been visiting the forum for any amount of time, you know that there are many owners for whom the original state is the only way these trucks should be.
Most of the forum visitors seem to be all about personalizing them and I fall into this later contingent. I say that customizing a Pinz to suit your needs is the way to go.

Dave, I don't think it sold.
Paul, Mount a camera in it it would look like one of the storm chasers rides there using around here.
