I can order one from EI, but Id like to get it done today. Has anyone ever found a switch that you can get locally?

You already have a switch!
Just run a wire from the unused accessory switch (the one next to the hazard flashers pull knob- far left of dashboard) back to the light. That way, you can switch it on and off without having to actually be in reverse gear.
Just make sure that you don't forget and leave it on. It gets hot... and everyone behind you gets blinded!
That's how I did it.

I don't know of any switches that bolt in directly. But I was told that CWR used to sell a setup which consisted of an adaptor and a late '70's Nissan backup switch. IIRC, the adaptor was from Lowes or Home Despot or some such home center. Then they had to retap the inside to fit the switch.

I don't recall the precise details. But I've got one that I had to replace the switch on. You might call Dennis for the specifics.

No idea if true but was told that vw 02K 945 415 C would work. Would be best to take the one out of the 712 and take it to the local supply house. But by now you could of had one shipped to you from one of the suppliers.
