Am going to use stainless bolts when I refit my new stainless muffler but reluctant to use Nyloc nuts due to the heat. Should I use spring washers or epoxy or something else?

I would say the problem is less nuts working loose, more seizing in place. My existing exhaust was put on with well greased stainless nuts and bolts with flat washers, I have yet to try and remove them but lets just say they certainly haven't worked loose!!

Interestingly, the M8 bolts I've ordered use a 14mm spanner (the nuts they came with use a 13mm) - I think this is the new standard but can't find the link

I used SS bolts, nuts and spring washers on 2 installs and they have all stayed tight.

The severely over sized hole couldn’t have any thing to the failure in this video… there is a reason most fasteners in locations subjected to vibration are near interference or interference fits.

Very interesting video. What type of washer should be used in a similar situation? I trust welding is out?

Some users prefer using internal or external tooth washers since they have more points of contact to lock the nut in place. I'm not sure how well they hold up to heat (exhaust) but I've used them most other places on the Pinz.

There was so much exhaust putty on my fingers (well, latex gloves) when fitting the bolts that there is probably some in the threads which will act as a thread lock to an extent... I might get some lock nuts if they start coming loose
