Perhaps a better question is; how tough is it to remove the old rails. Often the screws are rusted and/or the nut-serts are rusted loose. I've had to destroy the old rails on occasion to remove the fasteners.

Lots of good recent info on nut-sert replacement, just search.

Assuming the rails are made accurately, install ought to go easy.

A while back this subject came up regarding using rubber for the rub rails. I believe (I've been wrong before) that the general consensus was that it was a bad idea as the rail would grab obstacles instead of grinding through them.

Agreed, when you need a "rub" rail it's better that it gives a gliding surface to slip around on!
