I see that the arizona senate will be voting whether to exempt vehicles 25yrs old from emissions testing. Hopefully this will pass AZ sb1324

It might be in your best interest to get involved and active in lobbying for this exemption.
Federal code seems to indicate that FMVSS requirements do not apply to vehicles which are more than 25 yrs. old [49USC, Sec. 30112(B)(9)], just as the import of our Pinzgauers was allowed under that rule.
I'd bet that other Arizona collector car groups are concerned with this and active. You might contact them to get involved.

I am always surprised that states in America have rules that stop people from enjoying older vehicles. To me one of the markers of a civilised nation is a thriving classic car movement. If you know a country where there are no classic vehicles, because of restrictions by the government (maybe a lot of museums) then you are probably in an ex commie country. I,m willing to bet that North Korea has no classic car movement, maybe China has a tiny one among rich people educated in the west? I was enlightened when I moved to Poland to find that I can register my Pinz as a classic vehicle, although there are silly restrictions (can,t be driven at night for one??) luckily no-one but no-one enforces things here. I,m not a biker, but I can appreciate old metal in any shape of form, to me even an old piece of Plant equipment that is still working is beautiful. Imagine a world where there are no girls walking on the street!!!! just museums full of waxworks and pictures of them. That,s what it would be like with just museums and no classic car/truck movement.
