THE PORTAL HUB - Pinzgauers, Haflingers, Volvo 303s and more!

The pictures are of a trailer I have a line on and am wondering how well suited it would be as a platform for a Pinz off-road trailer. The platform is approximately 33 inches wide by 51 inches long; width at tires is 57 inches from extreme left to extreme right as pictured lunette is about 17 inches from ground, sitting on 7 x 16 tires. Has a USMC marking however hasn’t found a data plate. What the heck is this thing and would it be possible to raise it to an appropriate height for level towing behind my 710K?

Doesn't look like it's braked (unlike a Sankey trailer) and difficult to see if the pintle eye can rotate. I've fitted a swivelling NATO hitch on my Pinz so wouldn't be a problem, but if it's rigid then you'll have problems off-road

Not sure what it is. But it doesn't seem to have springs, so I bet it's a rough rider. Likely some specialized hauler. You might try posting pics to the Steel Soldiers forum under trailers for some help in ID'ing it.

Or the HMVF (Heavy Military Vehicle Forum), more eyes may help.

Apparently some type of generator trailer. In the last picture the springs are shown, seems to be some kind of coil suspension.

The lunette is shown in the retracted position with the tow bar support (?) in the lowered position where it becomes a landing leg.

Odd trailer, trying to decide if it’s worth the drive to view it in person.

Oh yeah. I saw those spring-like things earlier and missed what they were. Maybe it's some sort of torsion-bar thing. In the second picture, the center of the hub appears offset from the axle (to my eyes, at least). That may give it greater ground clearance. ??

You better go look, if only to satisfy our curiosity.
