OK Long story short...well not quite so long. 2008 was a bad winter and I changed the wife and I from a Ford Ranger and Saturn SL1 to a Range Rover and Discovery. Despite the negative reviews throughout the internet both vehicles have been fine. At that time my buddy had just discovered Pinzgauers and was doing everything he could to convince me to get on. 15-20K was (and still is!) out of my price range for a specialty vehicle. Enter the 7000 Pinz from Miami a couple of weeks ago....found it accidentally....shocked by the low price. Started digging and before you know it I now have a 73 Pinz 710m parked by my shed.
Just picked her up yesterday in Boise, ID and drove her to Lewsiton, ID. Snowy windy roads but was a lot of fun.
Numerous issues with truck which I will try to search for before finding asking questions that get asked over and over. This thing reminds me so much of an old VW on steroids it is not even funny. My first car was a 63 bug and my second was a 58 bus. This Pinzgauer feels like it came out of the same factory! I Love it! No computers and VWesque technology means I can do the majority of the work myself.
I would like to extend my thanks to the members of this forum. I have spent many many hours on this forum prior to buying and I never would have considered the purchase if it wasn't for the information provided by this forum.

That's the red one right? I think there has been some discussion on here about that Pinz lately and what might be wrong with it since the price was so nice. Anyhow, welcome to the world of Pinzgauers!
Chris.

No no the red one got the hooks in me due to it's price. I ended up buying an OD one in Boise.

Re: Joined the 710m Club
I have this weird tendency to keep track of the pinzgauers for sale across the nation so PLEASE dont take my knowledge of its availability as an indicator of an issue. I simply watch the trends.
With that said, I remember when they were trying to sell it for $11,000. At that point it was worthy of the $11,000, the market just tanked. I watched it fall in price over the past year or so and thought it was a solid deal at your $8000 price. So much so, I'd recommended it to others who were looking.
I know of no issues with the truck but expect the normal things of an $8000 pinzgauer. I expect leaks here and there, torn boots, vibrations and rust. Probably a tear or two in the top. Nothing horrible. The thing is going to have a million gremlins and thats exactly why we like them. DO NOT let every little thing scare you on it. its a 40 year old truck and its going to have a personality. Embrace it. Use it to learn and get it to the point that your comfortable. Don't expect perfection, but do expect to spend lots of money on it! Probably in need of a civilian ignition and a carb tune up. Gonna be a bit of a sticker price there, but it will get you much further than you expect.
Good luck with it. You got into the hobby at a solid entry price.

I was the previous owner of that Pinz. It had some issues, hence the low price, but I also did a lot of work on it. You can pm me and I can give you details.

Re: Joined the 710m Club
So between the three of us we have 2 710m's, a 712, and a 710k. Add in the other 2 710m's, another 712r, and another 710k here in McCall and we could really have some fun! This will definitely need a new thread.
