I took the top off, spread it in the drive way (swept the drive way first) hosed it off
and scrubbed it with a soft brush, let it dry and then used 303 protectant. Looks like a new top.

After claening it with simple green or equivilant, definatly use 303 protectant.
the hardest part of taking it off are getting it over the front clips. Do that first before put the top aluminum strips on and it is a piece of cake.
Scott at EI recomends 303 protectant every couple months. it is a sun screen protectant as well as just a regular Armer All. He also recomends the first time you do it in the garage or house and let it soak over night before wiping it off. this lets it soak into the fibers.

OK ... let's be clear here. I took off the rear top. That is the part I was talking about...realizing I was not clear and perhaps scared some of you
I also took off the cab top at a different time to clean and repaint the bars and the screws and put it back together. The cab top can be cleaned and protected
without removing it...may be better if you are not trying to rehab the metal parts. I also remade the ears and replaced them as the originals were just too far gone
to mess with.

Feel better now? :D

If its bad, "Greased Lightning" works really well. Its the strongest consumer degreaser I have found and you can water it down for most jobs.

Definitely use the 303 protectant after cleaning. Takes years off the top.
I also used motorcycle helmet visor polish on the vinyl windows and took them from cloudy to clear.

care for your pinzgauer top is easy. Cleaning products for the top, windows and cordage can be found at your better boating supply stores.

I use the marine stores for a lot of different pinz related items, especially if you are on the coast where the larger boats tend to be 24v.

I have had the windows replaced in my top. Prior to replacement I used Pledge furniture polish to help reduce the yellow in the windows.
Reduced the discoloration about 60%...and it gave the pinz a nice lemony smell.
