Looking to replace the rubber rope on the top. Can some one school me on how to crimp the clamps on the ends? I saw one recomendation for mcmaster car clamps but can't find how to clamp them.
If you could post pics I'd apreciate it as I am very visually oriented and would like to select my method by tidiness and holding power. I tried googleing and search in the forum with no luck. Cold War says to call for their method and not to buy the tool but no one answers.
Thanks in advance!!

I seem to recall that someone mentioned that tile nippers work well for crimping the ss clamp rings. I use a pair of Channelock cutting pliers I had around like these:

I have to be careful with them since they will cut thru the clamp if squeezed too hard.

The end nip pliers crimp the cleanest, but almost any pliers will accomplish the same, even dices. But as Paul said, be careful on the pressure used

I just use channel locks and squeeze.

I crimp the 2 ears and then squeeze the center area with channel locks if needed.

Some pictures of the crimps for future reference as I did not have and of these clamps on my rig to go by.

Just for archive: how did you end up crimping?
Buy the tool, Channel Locks or did you use the tile nippers?
Crimps look good!

I used a pair of pincer pliers from Lowes crimped the ends first and then the middle. I dulled the plier ends up a little on the sander first so I wouldn't cut through the clamps.

I'm looking to buy some of the crimps and I've already got the rubber rope.
I went with 3/8 inch rope which is just a hair bigger than what's on there
now. But what size crimps do I buy??? Is the 3/8 in crimp meant for
crimping 1 3/8 inch rope, or 2 ropes? Should I get a larger size, say 3/4 inch? (2 x 3/8)

I ordered rubber rope but it came in two pieces. What's the best way to crimp them together? I don't have clamps, so I'm thinking of simply tying them together with copper wire tightly wound.

I used 3/8s as well and just used the stainless clamps from SAV.

If you want to connect the two ropes together, use a crimp on
the end of each, and a stainless ring, just like on the ends.
