Search and rescue and the national guard are currently looking for a missing plane in my area... I think they'd be pretty mad if I was driving around with an aviation beacon onboard the Pinz.

Does it not come with a switch to disable the device? If so keep it in the off position or just disconnect the thing.
Seems that it is rather interesting to have something on a vehicle that might be considered (illegal) or not desirable in this country.

But still.... it is considered a selling point for the vehicle.

the aviation beacon mentioned is the small yellow light mounted where many Pinzgauers have an antenna mounted to the center of the forward roll bar. this light is to make the truck more visible when on an airport. it is not a rescue transmitting beacon.

Good to know, thanks for clearing that up. Since the vehicle is covered in dark paint versus the military yellow ground support color it makes sense to have a yellow light up there.
Even the yellow GSE equipment has flashing lights.

Worked USMC aviation ground support in the '70's at NAS JAX FLA, very few pieces of yellow gear had flashing lights at that time. A green truck on the tarmac would have been a different story.
