710 to 712s... by back to a 710?

Love my truck. Owned 3, each w it's own personality and I have to say the current is my favorite, however as a 99% on road vehicle I find the 6 wheels are simply a cool factor. I rarely have so many people that I need the extra 4 seats nor the storage. I've also found towing to be a little more challenging with the additional weight.

I'm considering going back to a 710 for maneuverability and weight. Has anyone made the transition and my regretted it?

For the record, I'd want a 710 with a roof rack and tough river top to consider a trade.

Yes I have run the gamut and now into a 710M.
My 710 needs a little love before I'll be able to have any real hint of comparison. Once I get some miles under her I can give a report. If I could have found 712 project I would have stayed with 6 wheels but I figure I'll give 4x4 a try.

Sean, The gamut?
How about a transition from 710 to 712 to 716 to 718? And a 700 Haffy in the middle
Everything is to each there own, but I am partial to the 4x4s over the 6x6s for on road use, and a TDs ( and especially the XM) over the gasers

The 6x6 (any) will scuff rear tires on sharp turns (felt more in slow movements). Something I felt in the FDT , but also when I got the GG. It had been 11 years since I sold the 712 and had forgotten.
On the reverse, the 712 may stop "truer" than a 710 on a panic stop. The extra pair of tires on the 712 would help the rear stay there. T

Drum brakes must be maintain, an out of adjustment at any corner in a 710 will rear its head quicker than a 6x.

I do 70 onroad/30 offroad... I think 710 (4x4)is the best to go anywhere 6x6 is too much for my style, i drive the truck once a week and not always to go offroad just for the""smiles per gallons""...
