I do not know if this subject has been addressed, ether way, I want to install a plow on my newly acquired 83 712 . I bought it over the holiday in N. Ky. A very original example. The main reason I bought it was to use it for limited snow plow work on my very steep driveway Not sure where to start so anyone out there have any thing to add let me know ! I know in Europe they are fitted with plows. Anyone know where I can get one ?

Maybe you can get some ideas from this eBay listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-PINZGAUER- ... 1740501692

I have seen one with a factory plow; the plow is pushed though a clamped pivot just behind the front diff (clamps around the main chassis tube), and the plow has arms that reach back, under the diff and front axles, to that point. Then the lifting of the plow is done from the front of the frame.

i was considering that unit before it went on ebay....if it had been a 712 i might have bought it, its a total custom truck right down to the Diesel engine by Fiat .

Have you considered a drag behind plow? With chains and the pintle hitch an old style farm plow/grader might do the trick. It will also make the truck less prone to damage from plow impacts. It sounds like you have to nice a truck to beat it up. That's what Chev's are for.

Do I sound like a guy who started out with draft horses? Oh well...

From foggy memory, I think this was broached many years ago here. IIRC, someone compared it to a really old John Deere snow plow.

NO. do you know where I live ? 300 inches is not uncommon on Superiors south shore. often 2 foot overnight,. also very steep driveway up the side of a mountain....you only get one shot from my heated garage down grade ( cant plow up hill)

Not to be funny but a desiel Mog with hydraulics would be better than an air cooled Pinz
Sorry I know that is not helpful but not many were built to handle plows

Sounds like a snow cat might do a better job on the driveway. I know there are some older ones for sale up that way. Might be a cheaper option.
