I just thought this was odd to see on a US gov. auction site. It's a little chewed up looking and has an original body with signs of rust damage. Did someone here get it?

They also list a bunch of hyd. winches. Someone could make a killing on these if they dont get bid way up.

The Volvo was non DLA (Defense Logistic Agency). They do private surplus auctions as well. So someone used Govliquidation like ebay to auction their privately owned truck. Pretty smart rational as someone looking for mil surplus would see it since the interest is already there but I don't think it has the exposure that Ebay has.
The winches is how the surplus business goes someone will buy them and they'll end up on a surplus Co website,a forum, ebay or craigslist.

Interesting find - do you know what the thing is in picture # 37? Can't seem to link the photo from the page - but it looks like a heater fan intake perhaps? Thought it was a capstan type winch at first.

This Volvo was on CL awhile back for $9500 and was SOLD within a few hours of being posted. Maybe someone tried to flip it?
It used to live just over the hill from us.

It looked to be a good deal compared with the other Volvo prices I have seen lately. I talked to the seller he claimed that it was no rust/damage and was in good working order.
We're all of these alumazinc bodies?

I clearly saw rust damage in the pics. I can't imagine what he's talking about. Pretty much all the original body Volvo's have rust issues that I have seen.
Always start your inspection with the lower windshield area, behind the fuse panel, which gives you a decent indication of how the rest may look. $9500 would be bad deal for many of the ones I have seen. The repair costs and/or man-hours can be really insane on these bodies.
